Two birds one stone - I stumbled upon The Sunday Post Meme hosted by the lovely Caffinated Book Reviewer & the Stacking The Shelves meme hosted by the awesome Tynga's Reviews! It is quite similar to what I'm doing here with my Sunday musings - recapping the week in book blogging universe as well as letting you guys know about what books I bought or received.
I rate this week 3/5 stars - it kind of flew by without me but I did get to do some drawing which makes up for all of it! It definitely was NOT a productive reading week. I've been in a minor reading schlump these last two weeks but I've got some exciting books that I can't wait to share with you guys soon so I hope that propels me back to reading! As I mentioned, I got to squeeze in some time for drawing this week and it was so much fun! It is hard to dedicate anytime during the summer to drawing with work and trying to put out quality content onto the BloggityBLOG. I tried to practice some portrait drawing this week with a variety of charcoal sticks and powders. I referenced the amazing photographer Maarten Schröder's photo Twan. I asked him if I could use the image as reference and all but DIED when he replied back saying I could with a compliment on my artwork. Here is the finished piece:
Male Head Portrait Study
16"x20"
Charcoal on Bond Paper

In other art related news, I picked up an old Minolta SLR camera this week and have been having loads of fun wasting film while playing around with shooting! It is refreshing to go back to a non-digital camera. By reflex I always incline my head after I take a shot to look at the LCD screen where my photo should appear but there is none! Relying on the viewfinder for everything is so weird but I'm slowly getting back into it. I was a hobby photographer back in senior year of high school but when university hit, I had to put it aside. Getting this SLR was a reawakening for that love of shooting again! I sent my three rolls of film off for developing so *cross my fingers* they turn out somewhat decent? Here is my new baby ;P

NEW Books added to my shelf this week:
Two new additions this week! First one is The Intern's Handbook By Shane Kuhn. I recieved a copy of the sequel Hostile Takeover last week and thought I should pick up the first to read so I could wrap my head around the story! Second new book of the week is The Collector By Victoria Scott. The story's synopsis had a really interesting mix of fantasy/real-world charm that had me wanting to read it!

AS ALWAYS,
HAPPY READING &SUNDAY!
-SHERRY
Great haul this week! The Collector sounds really good. However, I've heard mixed things about it.
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I can see where The Collector can potentially be a mehhh read but I really want to see how this alpha male character Dante is ;P Thanks for stopping by love!
DeleteWow...a lot going on! That drawing is awesome! Great job! I often wish I could draw, but that was never something I had any slight talent for. Hope you enjoy your new books too!

Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know
Much thanks you kind lady! It takes a lot of time and dedication to learn how to draw - I never knew I wanted to draw and paint academically/professionally till senior year high school. It's never too late to start learning ;P
DeleteYour drawing is really good!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your photos! They are all so pretty <3
I nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! It would be great if you would hop on over and check it out - I would love to see your answers.
Olivia @ Fluttering Pages
Thanks so much Olivia for all the kind words (seriously put a huge smile on my face!). The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award sounds like so much fun & I'll most definitely be checking it out! I'll try to get a post out as soon as I can ♥
DeleteWOW the drawing is amazing!! So talented! Can't wait to read your review of Grey - Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you ♥ This community is so supportive! I was excited to write my review of Grey ;P
DeleteYou are such an incredible artist! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the Intern's Handbook, will check it out!
Have a lovely week
Heather @ Random Redheaded Ramblings
Oh gosh that is so nice of you to say! Much thanks ♥ I'm about three quarters through with The Intern's Handbook and it is AMAZING! I would say though that it is quite fast-paced writing and so you've got to be paying attention! Have yourself a wonderful week too!
DeleteYour drawing is so well done. You should be proud! I need to read your review of Grey as I have been putting off reading it. I know people either love or hate the series, and while I didn't really like the only one I read, the first one, I am interested to see how this one reads.
ReplyDeleteI stand by it very proudly ;) Thank you love! I think Grey is a easier(?) intro to the series and world of Fifty Shades. I'm so glad you're interested in the Grey review - I hope you swing by when it's up to let me know what you think!
