Sunday Musings: New Books & Other Awesome Bookity Things [7]

Two birds one stone - I stumbled upon The Sunday Post Meme hosted by the lovely Caffinated Book Reviewer & the Stacking The Shelves meme hosted by the awesome Tynga's Reviews! It is quite similar to what I'm doing here with my Sunday musings - recapping the week in book blogging universe as well as letting you guys know about what books I bought or received.

So this week's Sunday Musing photo is extremely creepy!

This is what going to art school consist of - freaky things and beautiful artwork! Thanks to all the people out there who wished me a good-luck for my summer painting class because I definitely needed it! Although it's only been about a week since starting the course, I'm already stressed out about it! It is a good kind of stress though - the type that keeps me wanting more! This course is exposing me to painting with oils which is completely new to me. I'll admit that it's a really hard medium to paint with! You know the consistency of butter? You know how once it touches a surface it's almost impossible to get rid of that slime-y, greasy touch? Well painting with oils is like that except it's toxic and the colour is kind of permanently there. Not that anyone out there might find this relevant to book blogging but it was a crucial part of my week (and the next month) so I'm sorry in advance - you'll be hearing more about it I'm sure later on =)

Now back to some bookish type stuff! It's been a slow reading week for me. I try to at least post two book reviews a week but I just didn't get a chance to fully read and review a book for last Monday! Again I'm going to say, THERE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH TIME IN A DAY! Going forward for the month of June, while I'm in summer school, it looks like I'll be only getting to one book review a week :/ I'll try for two and hope for the best!

Posts From The Past Week:

Review: The Beginning of Everything By Robyn Schneider

Happening This Week:

I'll be starting to read Whiskey & Charlie By Annabel Smith. It is a departure from my usual YA/New Adult so I'm excited for that!

LAST YEAR'S MISTAKE IS RELEASED THIS WEEK TUESDAY!!! AND I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED! So if anyone is going to be at Yorkdale Indigo this Tuesday - come find me and we'll have a small party together! I'm so happy for Gina!

I created a sidebar quote meme for this book! It has one of my FAVOURITE quotes from Last Year's Mistake - grab the image and add it to YOUR sidebars/blogs to show support & love for this awesome book!

Three NEW Books added to my shelf this week:
(FINALLY found a copy of this book! I'm sad that they changed the cover design though because now it doesn't match with the first two books in the series that I own!)

Nearly Gone By Elle Cosimano

  3. I want to read Amy and Roger's Epic Detour so bad! I looked for it at the bookstore yesterday and they didn't have it. I've also been wanting to try a Holly Black book because everyone seems to have great things to say about her. Last Year's Mistake looks really good and I hope you enjoy all of your books!

    1. Holly Black's Curse Worker's Series was the only thing I've read of hers and I absolutely loved it! It had very unique characters and the plots were extremely entertaining! A lot of mob-type crime and love! I would definitely recommend it! Last Year's Mistake is SUCH a great teen contemporary! Amazingly written - with characters that are very true to real life ones! Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Hello Sherry -- some interesting books you're adding to your stash. Thanks for including news of your REAL LIFE in your post. It's reassuring to see someone else say "There just isn't enough time in a day." Whenever there's anything extra happening, both reading and posting to the blog suffer.

Good luck with your summer course work.
