Sunday Musings [15]: Beach Days & Summer Haze!

Two birds one stone - I stumbled upon The Sunday Post Meme hosted by the lovely Caffinated Book Reviewer & the Stacking The Shelves meme hosted by the awesome Tynga's Reviews! It is quite similar to what I'm doing here with my Sunday musings - recapping the week in book blogging universe as well as letting you guys know about what books I bought or received.

I got some sun this week everyone! I went up North for a day with a friend of mine to hang out at the beaches and it was fantastic! Let me start by stating that I am a VERY pale person. I don't see sun much and when I do I tend to burn badly. It's totally the vampire syndrome I have. Anyways, I was determined to catch some sun rays that day and of course I DID NOT catch a nice tan. I was there for maybe 5/6 hrs and nothing - sun was shining so bright too! Oh wells, I guess it just wasn't meant to be! Nothing really exciting besides work work and work! Still stalling on my thesis prep for final year University but it'll get done eventually this month....Reading once again was on HOLD this week because I just couldn't find the time to sit down and read. I'm disappointed in myself because I have SO many great books to get through but can't seem to find the time and dedication to put towards them! This week will be better - it has to be!

Posts From The Past Week:

EXCERPT TOUR: THE CREEPING BY ALEXANDRA SIROWY

NEW Books added to my shelf this week:

Two e-books this week! Next! The Search for My Last First Date was a book I stumbled upon on Twitter and the synopsis was very intriguing. It deals with a middle-aged man who's looking for love except, he's a little out of the loop with the modern dating scene. It sounds fun and quirky so I'm excited for this one! Huge thanks to the author Robert James for a copy! The other book I recieved via NetGalley. This is my FIRST ever NetGalley ebook so that's exciting! The cover of Everything I Left Unsaid really had me! The synopsis was equally captivating! I love dark and thrilling romances so this one doesn't sound like it'll disappoint - check it out you guys!

I picked this read up because my co-worker recommended it to me. It dappers with an Asian/American family dynamic and being first generation Asian/Canadian myself I found the synopsis quite relatable. The story is deep and emotional, please check out the synopsis for Everything I Never Told You - DO IT!

BOOKstagram #JulyBookChallenge:

Reflect Thursday: Shining Books of Waiting on Wednesday [13]

Do you ever feel after a day like Waiting on Wednesday your list of TBR grows significantly? I wanted to mention a few titles that really caught my eye this week on the blogosphere after browsing the wonderful Waiting on Wednesday lists!

1. Trouble Is A Friend of Mine By Stephanie Tromly
Expected Release: August 4th 2015

Preparing to survive a typical day of being Digbys friend wasn't that different from preparing to survive the apocalypse.

Her first day not in school (because she cut) in her new hometown that will soon be her old hometown (because she's getting out of Dodge as fast as she can) Zoe meets Digby. Or rather, Digby decides he's going to meet Zoe and get her to help him find missing teenager. Zoe isn't sure how, but Digby—the odd and brilliant and somehow…attractive?—Digby always gets what he wants, including her help on several illegal ventures. Before she knows it, Zoe has vandalized an office complex with fake snow, pretended to buy drugs alongside a handsome football player dressed like the Hulk, had a throw-down with a possible cult, and, oh yeah, saved her new hometown (which might be worth making her permanent hometown after all.)

A mystery where catching the crook isn't the only hook, a romance where the leading man is decidedly unromantic, a story about friendship where they aren't even sure they like each other—Trouble is a Friend of Mine is a YA debut you won’t soon forget.
(Synopsis Provided By Goodreads)

This WoW discovery was awesome! After reading the synopsis all I could think about was how unconventional for a story. It could just very well be me thinking that this story sounds really unique and quirky but that's okay ;) I can't wait to get my hands on this one - good thing it's released next week!

What books did you discover after WOW? Create a post and leave a link in your description for me to check out!
& Much thanks to those who helped bring these books to my attention!

AS ALWAYS,
HAPPY READING!

Tuesday Thoughts & Talks [13]: Reading From the Opposite Gender's POV...Yay or Nay?

This is a meme hosted HERE that asks us to present something we've learned or thought about after we finished reading a book to anyone out there - sparking a conversation amongst us!

What I Read to Spark the feels:

I am currently reading through The Intern's Handbook and I've got to say it's really fascinating to read such an in-depth male outlook! As a girl, I think it was just natural to gravitate towards a female POV when reading or selecting a book but as I grow up and my genre and book interests change, I'm starting to see that I'm learning to love the male POV! This may be because it's somewhat of a foreign mind? The things guys pay attention too or observe is interesting to read about! Especially in a character like John Lago (the protagonist of The Intern's Handbook - think Mr. Smith from Mr&Mrs Smith meets closeted dork ;P). I'm going to keep the search on for more books in the male POV. I have not come across a male POV book where I didn't enjoy it! I'd like to hear some recommendations you guys have for me too so leave them in the comments below!

Do you enjoy reading from opposite gender POV? Add a link to your response OR just leave a comment below on this week's Tuesday Thoughts&Talks!

If you want to participate in the Tuesday Thoughts & Talks, just grab the banner, post your own Tues.T&T on your blog & then leave a comment down below with a link to your post!
