Reflect Thursday: The Books of Waiting on Wednesday! [1]

Do you ever feel after a day like Waiting on Wednesday your list of TBR grows significantly? I wanted to mention a few titles that really caught my eye this week on the blogosphere after browsing the wonderful Waiting on Wednesday lists!

Part two in the Everyday Series by the wonderful David Levithan. For anyone who has read Everyday by him, Another Day is the story from Rhiannon's perspective! Her life as A steps in as Justin for a day and changes everything! Cannot wait to read it! I absolutely love this story! Check out Everyday the first book in this story.

2. The Lies About Truth By Courtney C. Stevens

This story had such a bittersweet vibe to it that I couldn't look away! The tradgedy that strikes seems so life altering that I really want to know how Sadie 'heals' herself again!

I love the drama, scandal, and romance that screams from this book! I can't wait for it to be released later this year! I loved watching The Tudors television show and a modern day retelling of it in a teen lit definitely has me interested!

Tuesday Thoughts & Talks

What I Read to Spark the feels:

Most Likely to Succeed By: Jennifer Echols

For this week's Friday Feels, I wanted to bring up the idea of high school in teen fiction and YA. Recently I've been reading a few teen fiction books that take place in, no surprise, high school surroundings. High school experiences tend to get clumped up to the same cliche - you've got the cliques, popular kids versus the loner, the introvert or the ones that don't fit in. I always get thinking after reading these types of books, that teens who are reading them must be getting a very skewed idea of high school. I can't help but think that they walk away from these books thinking, high school needs to be this certain way. High school is the part of your life where you define yourself, the end all and be all, that you must find this while you're there for four years. Is it possible for someone to experience a not drama-ridden high school experience? For lack of better words, a 'boring' high school experience and still have a great time?

My parting thoughts on this topic is, I guess I see high school as a pressure that is fuelled by a false expectation and want to know if it's necessary.

Kaye is the vice president of her high school who's also dating the president. She's also head cheerleader and the only student council rep who knows how to get things done. It seems like her life is on the right track - and even if it wasn't her mother would make sure she was back on track before she could even blink. The future is where Kaye needs to keep her head. Her focus is to get into Columbia and become a business tycoon just like her mother. However, when she gets voted Perfect Couple That Never Was with all around flirt Sawyer - she can't help but put her plans on hold to wonder why Sawyer? Plagued by a curiosity she can't seem to get rid of, Kaye begins to take action on these thoughts and feelings about Sawyer. Leading her to realize the plan she's been following is no longer leading her towards to goals she once wanted.

Most Likely to Succeed was cute story. Sawyer was a great guy and Kaye was a refreshing female character who did things and acted out in ways I haven't really seen before. The plot was hard to follow at some points in the story but the characters Kaye and Sawyer pulled through in the end.

Sunday Musings: New Books & Only Lovers Left Alive [2]

After doing some more blogsphere discovering, I stumbled upon The Sunday Post Meme hosted by the lovely Caffinated Book Reviewer. It is quite similar to what I'm doing here with my Sunday musings and so, I will be linking to it from here on - check it out if this is something you're interested in as well!

This week went by rather quickly. Between work and blogging and reading - I barely slept. That's okay though, I'm use to that by now after three years of university procrastination development! I did get a chance to watch one of my favourite movies this week- Only Lovers Left Alive. It stars Tilda Swinton and tom Hiddleston and is a loose modern interpretation of Adam and Eve as vampires. The soundtrack is beautiful and the cinematography is dark and grungy. Great vibes and mood set with Tilda and Tom! I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the mood for a dark and twisty romance!

As the month of May rolls in, I begin my #monthofmaybookchallenge over on instagram. Again I am so amazed by the support and love of the book blogging community across all platforms (Blogger, Instagram, Wordpress, Bloglovin' etc.). The two books pictured on Day 3 of my #monthofmaybookchallenge are the newest additions to my bookshelf and boy are the covers pretty! The first one pictured is Finding Paris By Joy Preble. Based off the synopsis on the cover sleeve, it seems to be about a pair of sisters who set out on an adventure to have fun but one of them ditches the other making the one sister set out on a journey to find her. All the while learning about herself. It sounds extremely interesting and so now it has been added to my ever growing TBR pile of books!

The second book is How to Be Bad By E. Lockhart, Sarah Mlynowski and Lauren Myracle. These three authors have written other great teen novels and so I was super excited to stumble upon this read! I believe this is a new cover of the original book - not a new book in general. The sounds of this one are three friends who seem to be stuck in their hometowns dealing with boy problems, school problems and family ones. Together they set out on a drive with no destination in mind and no clue what their goal is but ultimately, each one of them will find answers they never knew they were searching for. 

Both of these books sound like great summer reads for me and I cannot wait to read them!

The Deal begins with a simple question and ends with the best answer! All around fun, The Deal is a great casual read for any New Adult lover! The characters have such great chemistry together and who doesn't love a hot hockey player? The main characters Hannah and Garrett are a great match with their self-confidence and sassy mouths - put a smile on my face for majority of the book! The book does introduce some pretty heavy topics of violence but does not dive too far into them. Overall I thought this book did a great job focusing/exploring relationships that begin as friends and how people move into something more.
